John H. Canney age 78 of Barrington, NH passed away peacefully in his home on December 25, 2022, after a period of failing health.

John was born in Laconia, NH on November 3, 1944. He was the son of Weymouth Canney and Helen (Bickford) Canney.

He grew up in Rochester, NH and attended Rochester school, Milton school and Maine school. He lived many years in Barrington, NH. He was the owner of J.H. Canney and Son Excavation from 1972-2022, that he built on his own with his wife Sheila Canney.

He enjoyed the outdoors and working with his hands, antique cars, flying his plane, oldies music, his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years Sheila M. (Varney) Canney, 2 sons Tomas Canney and Troy Canney, daughter Leah Canney, 2 grandsons Jeremy Rigel and Shamus Rigel, 2 half sisters Pamm Dodge and Sharon Foster, adopted brother Robert Canney, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Predeceased by his parents, his biological father John H. Dodge, and 2 stepsisters Maryann and Peggy.

At the wishes of John H. Canney and his wife Sheila M. Canney he will be put at peace.
