IN LOVING MEMORY OF
John H.
Ball
March 27, 1959 – December 27, 2023
Alton, NH
John (Johnny) H. Ball, Jr., 64, passed away unexpectedly at his home, in Alton, NH, on December 27, 2023, due to complications from a long and degenerative illness.
John was born on March 27, 1959, in Methuen, MA to the late John H. Sr. and Patricia (Phair) Ball. John grew up in the greater Lawrence, MA area, and spent his early life working as an auto mechanic, and Machinist. John could always be found with his head under the hood of a car or his hands in a broken appliance. He enjoyed troubleshooting and fixing all things mechanical or electrical, and liked nothing better than helping friends and family by using those skills. He was also an avid softball and dart player before he was injured.
John married his High School sweetheart, Carolyn (Major) in 1984, and settled in Salem, NH for 16 years, before moving to Alton, NH. He was injured and diagnosed with a degenerative nerve syndrome in 1992. John courageously fought his condition for the last 30 years, while being a loving and devoted husband, proud father to two sons, and the ecstatic grandfather (Papa) of two grandchildren. John's family was the most important thing in his life. He was a caring son, husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, great-uncle, and friend.
John was a faithful member of the American Legion Post 72 in Alton, and the Knights of Columbus organizations. He enjoyed meeting up with friends at the Legion and going for rides in his truck with his loyal dog and best friend, Ruger.
John is survived by his wife of 39 years, Carolyn; sons Ryan J. Ball, his wife Brittany Callum, and their children, Emma, and Cooper Ball of Croydon, NH; Dylan J. Ball, and his girlfriend Katlyn Byors of Portland, ME; sisters Joyce Regan and husband James; Tricia McPherson and husband Kevin; brother Wayne Ball; and many nieces and nephews.
There will be no calling hours. A Celebration of Life and private burial service are in the planning stages. For those who wish, the family suggests that donations be made in John's memory to the RSDSA (Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy Syndrome Association).
