Jean Margaret Joy, age 86, of Maple Street in Rochester, died November 26, 2018 at Dover Rehabilitation Center.
Born May 24, 1932 in England, a daughter of George and Nellie Norman, she came over from there and married Samuel O. Joy, residing on the farm in New Durham for many years. She also resided in Rochester for some years.
Jean had worked as a fancy stitcher at local shoe factories.
She had been on a bowling league called the "Night Owls", enjoyed cribbage tournaments, was a BINGO fanatic and played with a poker club every Friday night, she also loved scratch tickets. Jean was Nana to everyone.
Widow of the late Samuel O. Joy, she is survived by her 5 children: Melinda A. Smith, Samuel O. Joy, Alan D. and wife Nancy Joy, Jean M. Donnell and Maryellen J. and husband Donald Goodrich, 15 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren, also many nieces and nephews. She was one of 8 siblings.
A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, November 30, 2018 at 6pm at Peaslee Funeral Home, 24 Central Street, Farmington, NH with a calling hour prior to the service from 5-6pm. Interment will be in the spring at John C. Shirley Cemetery in New Durham, NH.
