Obituary

Janice Marie (Jenkins) Sanborn, age 90, formerly of Alton, NH, Chula Vista, CA, and Pittsfield, NH, died Saturday July 30, 2022 at the Epsom Healthcare Center where she had resided for over five years.

Born and raised in Philadelphia, PA on October 11, 1931 the daughter of the late George W. and Gertrude T. (Edson) Jenkins, Janice grew up in "Philly" and graduated from Germantown High School.

Married to Bill Sanborn for over 35 years, Janice spent many of those years as a dedicated military wife moving her large family from Los Angeles, CA to Hollywood, FL, West Point, NY, and Fort Devens, MA before settling in NH's Lakes Region in 1965. Janice was known, and will be remembered, for her remarkable memory and ability to recall vivid details of long-ago events and adventures. She was immensely proud of her personal floral business, Grammy's Dream Violetry, had an obsession for word search puzzles, and enjoyed knitting and crocheting beautiful items for friends and family. She especially cherished theregular Friday night card games she and Bill shared, for years,with special family friends Gene and Pat Elliot, treasured the years she lived in the San Diego area with her son, Otis, thoroughly enjoyed Bingo nights with her friends at Rolling Green Village in Pittsfield, and loved the many area trips she took with the Pittsfield Senior Center.

Janice is survived by five of her children: Otis M. Sanborn of Chula Vista, CA, Nancy L. and Thomas Bennett of Waterford, MI, Michael T. Haskin and Patricia Mathews of Marlborough, MA, Howard T. Sanborn II and Deborah Vasselian of Stewartstown, NH, Steven D. and Antonina Sanborn of Sanbornville, NH; her daughter-in-law Mary Haskin of Hampton, NH; 17 grandchildren: Jessica, Melissa, Mary, Elizabeth, Krista, Justin, Nick, Cole, Catherine, Steven, Otis, Henry, Jaime, Howie III, Anthony, Fabiean and Qwaide; 16great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by: her husband Howard T. "Bill" Sanborn, sons John F. Haskin and George "Billy" Haskin, brother George Edson Jenkins and sister Elisabeth K. (Jenkins) Ravenscroft.

Funeral service will be held on Friday August 5, 2022 at 11:00am with a calling hour from 10am-11am at the Peaslee Funeral Home, 24 Central Street, Farmington, NH. Interment will follow at the New Riverside Cemetery in Alton. To express condolences, please visit: www.peasleefuneralhome.com .
