Jane Betty Stevens, age 78, formerly of Reed Road in Sandown, died April 10, 2014 at Mt. Carmel Nursing Home in Manchester.
Born May 20, 1935 and raised in Middleton, NH, the daughter of Sidney A. and Marion E. (Kinney) Stevens, she resided in Sandown, NH since 1968, also Reeds Ferry in Merrimack and previously resided in Waltham, MA. A graduate of Spaulding High School in Rochester she was also a graduate of Concord School of Nursing, Class of 1953.
Jane was a Registered Nurse for 45 years, she worked as a private duty nurse, at nursing homes and at several hospitals, including Hampstead, Eliot, CMC and in Waltham.
She enjoyed knitting, a member of "Plaistow Knitters", a stamp collector, gardening, canning, puzzles, motorcycle riding and sailing out of Rye Beach.
Survived by 4 sons: Lawrence and wife Kellie Welch of Danville, Joel and wife Nipha Welch of Derry, Kerry and wife Rose Welch of the Philippines, Robert Welch of Manchester, 1 daughter: Heidi J. Welch of Manchester, 5 grandchildren: Marc, Lawrence, Jr. and Karla Welch, Melinda Currier and Alysan Polito, a great grandson: Brady Currier and 3 great granddaughters: Neveah Welch, Elizabeth Welch and Kaelyn Currier, also a nephew Walter Peckham and family of Middleton. She was predeceased by her parents, a brother Albert Stevens and a sister Evelene (Stevens) Peckham .
Calling hours are Monday evening from 6-8 pm at Peaslee Funeral Home, 24 Central Street, Farmington, NH. A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, April 15, 2014 at 10:00 am at Middleton Gospel Chapel, King's Highway in Middleton, NH with Pastor Cliff McMullen, officiating. Interment will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery in Farmington.
