Obituary

January 12, 1963 – June 14, 2023

James "Jim" Mabey, 60, of Farmington, NH passed away on June 14, 2023, surrounded by loved ones after a two-year battle with colon cancer.

Born in Portsmouth NH on January 12, 1963, to James C and Hazel (Hilton) Mabey, he lived most of his life in Farmington. Jim was a 1981 graduate of Farmington High School.  He had several jobs throughout his career, but his last and favorite was the many years he worked at Oasis Alignment.  He enjoyed traveling for work with so many of his friends.  He loved basketball and Patriots football.  Right after high school Jim coached Little League basketball at the 500 Boys Club for almost 20 years.  Go Yellow Team!

Jim married his wife Penney, 41 years ago, after being high school sweethearts. They have a son Joshua Mabey, and a granddaughter Cali Mabey.

When Jim retired about 8 years ago, he took on the role of picking Cali up from preschool, kindergarten, all the way up through fourth grade every day.  As he told everyone, she was the "apple of his eye" and his world evolved around her.

Jim was an active, lifetime member of the Rochester Elks and The Club Victoire (Victory Club) of Rochester.  He volunteered and donated many hours to each club.

Jim was predeceased by his parents, Jim and Hazel Mabey, and his father-in-law Perley LaCoss Sr.  He is survived by his brother, Gary Blake of Newfields, his two sisters Gail and her husband Ron LaPointe of Farmington and his sister Brenda and her husband Brian Page of Farmington, his mother-in-law Shirley LaCoss of Rochester and his brother-in-law Perley LaCoss Jr and his wife Dina of Pennsylvania as well as several nieces and nephews.

Per Jim's request there will not be a service, but since he always loved a party there will be a Celebration of Life.  This will be held on Sunday, June 25th from 1:00-4:00 pm at the Rochester Elks Lodge, 41 Columbus Ave. Rochester, NH.  All are welcome to share stories and good times had with Jim.
