James Oliver Lawrence, age 86, passed away peacefully, on May 18, 2023 at Wolfeboro Bay Care Center, with his loving wife by his side.
Born December 27, 1936 in Farmington, NH, a son of Abbott and Arlene (Place) Lawrence, he attended school there and was a graduate of Farmington High School. In early years, he went to college for automotive technician.
He resided in Farmington, NH for many years, Columbia (Colebrook) NH for years and more recently in Alton and Wolfeboro, NH.
A Veteran of the United States Army, he was stationed in France.
Jim was a General Contractor having built homes and cottages in the local area, including the family home on Glen Street in Farmington.
A Master Electrician and a licensed journeyman Plumber, prior to retirement, he was employed with Hebert's Plumbing & Heating of Colebrook for over 25 years.
Jim loved being and working in the woods, he took pride in being a good steward of the woods and forest. He loved to garden and chose to do so organically, having produced the most rich and luscious vegetables for canning, that he and his wife would do. He also loved raising farm animals and driving his tractor.
Survived by his loving wife of 49 years Barbara I. (Gardner) Lawrence and children: Jason & wife Shauna Lawrence, Kathi & husband Ray Baldwin, Donald Linde & partner Mary Rice, Michael & wife Debi Linde, Matthew & wife Kim Linde, Nancy Linde, Gregory Linde & partner Diane Goodman, Ann (Linde) & husband Ken Ordway, 26 Grandchildren, 30 Great Grandchildren, brother Richard Lawrence & sister Nancy Landstrom, also many Nieces and Nephews.
Predeceased by his parents, sister Elaine Chagnon Stimpson, brother Roger Lawrence, nieces: Denise Novak & Donna Chagnon and nephew Dale Chagnon.
Jim especially adored his wife and family and loved spending hours with his grandchildren, he also enjoyed building gifts from wood for family and friends.
A Celebration of his Life with military honors will be held on Friday, June 23, 2023 from 12Noon-4pm at American Legion Post #72 in Alton, NH, family and friends are welcome.
