Alton, New Hampshire:
James J. Ficke, age 65 of Suncook Valley Road in Alton, died Wednesday evening, March 9, 2005 at home, after a battle with cancer.
Born August 12, 1939 in Seward, Nebraska, a son of the late Melvin C. and Gertrude (Skala) Ficke, the family moved to Springfield, Oregon, where he graduated from high school and joined the Navy. He resided in Alton since 1987.
A Veteran of the United States Navy, he retired in 1990 after a 30 year career, having served on several submarines.
For the past 15 years, he was employed in production management with Poland Spring, a division of Nestle Waters.
He enjoyed working in his yard and loved antiquing.
Survivors include his wife of 45 years: Ardena "Cookie" (Schlecht) Ficke of Alton, a daughter: Kimberly S. Floyd of Fargo, North Dakota, 2 sons: Melvin C. "Mike" Ficke of Minneapolis, Minnesota and Christopher J. Ficke of Manahawkin, New Jersey, several Grandchildren, his mother: Gertrude Ficke Lasagna of Springfield, Oregon, and 2 brothers: Michael D. Ficke of Springfield, Oregon and David D. Ficke of Eugene, Oregon.
