On 12/31, a very special soul completed his journey on Earth and departed this world. Howard Allen, a proud veteran who served his country as a passionate Marine passed away peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones after a brief illness. Howard was a grateful friend of Bill and Bob's for 45 years and started the New Durham Fireside Group in 1979. He devoted his life to service for anyone in need of a helping hand. He and Carol, his wife for 60 Years opened HLA and committed their lives to working with Developmentally Delayed adults. Together, they pioneered a successful model for treatment and productive assimilation into the community.
They gave freely of their time, love, acceptance and faith to all who crossed their path.
Howard is survived by his wife Carol, children, Darlene and Rocky Hunter, Donna and Joe Gallucci, Cindy Eldridge, and Carol T Allen. He leaves grandchildren Nichole and Aaron Dore, Rocky Hunter, Justin Keller. and Christopher and Sarah Eldridge and his great grandchildren Ella, Morley, Beniah, Audie, Silas, Jason, his sister Nellie Enos and many nieces and nephews.
The family wants to express their gratitude to Cornerstone VNA of Rochester for the compassionate support and assistance during Howard's last days.
Calling hours will be held on Saturday, January 4, 2025 from 4pm to 6pm at Peaslee Funeral Home, 24 Central Street, Farmington, NH with a service at 6pm, family and friends are welcome. Interment will be in the spring at John Shirley Memorial Cemetery in New Durham, NH with military honors by the United States Marine Corps.
