NEW DURHAM — Hilaire V. Gagnon, 75, of Merrymeeting Road in New Durham, died Oct. 14, 2010, at home.
The son of Horace and Elieanna (Belletete) Gagnon, he was born March 26, 1935, and raised in Jaffrey, N.H., and had resided in New Durham for the past 50 years.
A U.S. Army veteran, he was a former Boy Scout Leader for the Daniel Webster Council, Boy Scouts of America in the New Durham/Alton area.
Hilaire was employed for 35 plus years with the New Hampshire Fish and Game Department at the Powder Mill Fish Hatchery in New Durham, where he retired as foreman.
He is survived by his wife, Elsie D. (Lussier) Gagnon and their four children, Kathleen Hurd, Kenneth Gagnon, Kristine Gagnon and Kathryn Gagnon; 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; three brothers, Maurice Gagnon, Irving Gagnon and Norman Gagnon, also several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday, Oct. 18, at 1 p.m. at St. Katharine Drexel Church, Hidden Springs Road, (Route 28N) in Alton, N.H., with Fr. Richard Wegman, as celebrant. A calling hour is prior to the service from 11 a.m. to 12 noon at Peaslee Alton Funeral Home, 12 School St., Alton.
