Herbert William "Bill" Maleham, Jr., age 81, of Province Lake Road in Wakefield, died August 29, 2011 at Frisbie Memorial Hospital in Rochester, surrounded by his loving family.
Born December 18, 1929 in Wolfeboro, the son of Herbert William Maleham, Sr. and Elsie (Hodson) Maleham, he resided in Wakefield for most of his life.
Herbert was a retired Railroad Worker with the Boston & Maine Railroad.
He delivered Meals on Wheels in Wakefield and was a 50 year member of the Wakefield Grange. A Mason, he was a 50 year member of Unity Lodge No.62 F.&A.M. in Union, a Shriner and member of Temple Ch. No. 20 Royal Arch Masons, Orient Council No. 14, Royal and Select, Palestine Commandery No. 11, Knights Templar, Consistory Scottish Rite Bodies, Valley of Nashua, Lodge Council Chapter Scottish Rite Bodies in the Valley of Portsmouth-Dover and member of the Bektash Temple.
He served the Town of Wakefield as a Special Police Officer for twenty years, was a member of the Wakefield Volunteer Fire Department from 1958-1992, served as a Trustee for the Lovell Lake Cemetery Assn. and served on the Budget Committee in Wakefield.
Widower of the late Marion "Dolly" (Welch) Maleham, who died on May 5, 2011, he is survived by 1 son William H. and wife April Maleham of Wakefield, 2 daughters: Marion E. and husband Cliff Trafton of Milton, Darlene A.and husband Robert Clement of Berwick, Maine, 7 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, 1 great great granddaughter, 1 sister: Sue Crowley of Rochester, also several nieces and nephews.
There are no calling hours, family and friends are welcome to a Memorial Service on Saturday, September 10, 2011 at 10:00am at First Congregational Church, 2718 Wakefield Road, Wakefield, NH with Rev. Mary James, pastor, officiating. If desired, memorial donations may be made in his memory to the Shriners Childrens Hospital in Springfield, MA.
