Helen E. Glidden, age 78, of Charles Street in Farmington, died September 26, 2013 at her son's home in Rochester.
Born September 1, 1935 in Groveton, the daughter of Joseph L. LaCroix and Delma (Portigue) LaCroix Rollins, she grew up in Alton, attended school there and was a graduate of Alton High School, Class of 1954.
On January 1, 1955, she married Wesley D. Glidden and moved to Farmington, she worked in local shoe factories over the years, including Dover Shoe, Encore Shoe and Colby Footwear, before retiring.
Helen liked spending time outside, birds and flowers and watching the Red Sox play ball. She enjoyed time spent with her family, grandchildren and doing for others.
Widow of the late Wesley D. Glidden, who died in 2009, she is survived by their 3 children: Jacalyn G. Watson, Stephen and wife Cheryl Glidden and Donna M. Glidden, 6 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren, 3 sisters: Nancy Green, Nancy Sanders and Pauline LaCroix, also aunts, uncle, nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by a son: David A. Glidden and 2 brothers: Donald LaCroix and Maurice LaCroix.
Calling hours are Monday evening from 6-8 pm at Peaslee Funeral Home, 24 Central Street, Farmington, NH. A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, October 1, 2013 at 11:00 am at the funeral home with Rev. Mike Bennett, officiating. Interment will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery in Farmington.
