FARMINGTON – Harold H. "Sonny" Varney, 65, of Main Street, Farmington passed away on Sunday March 20, 2011 at Frisbie Memorial Hospital with his family by his side.
Born in Rochester, NH on August 19th 1945, he was the son of Harold and Arlene (Knox) Varney and was a life-long resident of Farmington.
Sonny proudly served our country in the US Army and married his sweetheart, Betty J. Gates on November 2nd 1968. Sonny worked for most of his career as a shoe factory supervisor at Encore Shoe in Rochester. He can be best remembered driving around town in his beloved 1961 corvette.
Sonny is survived by his wife of 43 years, Betty (Gates) Varney; his children Marc Varney and his wife Nora of Farmington and Kristen Varney and her husband Keith Inman of Ellicott City, Maryland; his grandsons Michael Varney, Devon Vallely, Kevin Varney, and Noah Inman; and his sister, Carol Morin of Dover.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday March 26th at Peaslee Funeral Home, 24 Central Street, Farmington. Friends and family are welcome to attend a reception following the service at the First Congregational Church, 400 Main Street, Farmington.
