Rochester, NH

Gloria A. Mackie, age 89, formerly of West Wind Estates in Rochester, died October 23, 2012 at Riverside Rest Home in Dover.

Born in Rochester, NH on October 15, 1923, she was the youngest child of Mary (Bilodeau) and Joseph Grassie.

She was married to Lawrence D. Lover in December of 1941 and after World War II, they settled in Farmington to raise their two children.

Gloria worked driving taxi cab in Farmington and in the local shoe shops for many years.

In 1971, she moved back to Rochester, where she was employed at Rich's Department Store. There she met and later married Rudolph A. Mackie in October of 1982. After retiring in 1983, she and Rudy enjoyed many years of traveling to Texas, California, Arizona and Alaska.

She enjoyed going to bingo and playing the slot machine in Laughlin, NV and at Foxwoods. She also loved just visiting her family and many friends.

She was predeceased by two husbands: Lawrence D. Love and Rudy Mackie, 4 sisters: Elaine Nute, Margaret Smith, Violet Grassie and Louise Buffum and her brother Louie Grassie.

Survived by her son Lawrence J. Lover of Farmington and her daughter Roberta L. and husband Leo R. Turgeon of Soldotna, Alaska, her grandchildren: Christopher Lover of Laconia, Carrie Lover of Middleton, Shaun and wife Michelle Lover of Bow, NH, great grandchildren: Shaun, Jr., Ryan and Brady Lover of Bow, NH, nieces and nephews: Diane Dunlap of Chichester, Shirley Anderson Rochester, Brenda Kucher of Farmington, Carol Ann Gagnon and Betty Steeves, both of Rochester, Linda Massie of Venice, FL, Belle Watson of Tuftonboro, Nancy Bailey of S. Lebanon, ME and Tim Thomas of Farmington, also many good friends and neighbors at West Wind Estates, in California, Arizona and Alaska.
