IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Gloria C.
Hutchins
December 24, 1930 – September 10, 2024
Milton Mills, NH
Gloria C. Hutchins, age 93, a lifelong resident of Milton Mills, passed away peacefully at home, September 10, 2024, surrounded by her loving family.
Born December 24, 1930 in Milton Mills, a daughter of Dennis & Mamie (Marsh) Clough. Gloria was a 20 year employee of GE in Somersworth as well as a loving homemaker and mother of ten children with her husband, of 55 years, Edwin H. Hutchins.
Gloria was not a homebody she could always be found out enjoying one of her many hobbies. You might find her playing Bingo or stopped at a yard sale somewhere. Her family would often joke that she couldn't see a yard sale without stopping and that she had to start sneaking her finds in when she got home. She was even given the nickname Grammie Go-Go by one of her grand-daughters because she was very social and involved in so many things. She also never missed an opportunity to tell her many stories of the, often hilarious, adventures traveling several times, with her younger children, across country to visit family in Califorina.
Gloria was a long time member of the Red Hats Society where she could be found dressed to the nines to join their luncheons. One thing Gloria was very proud of in her life, before she became too busy with mothering ten children, she showed her true love for this country by being an active member of the Republican Party. She was even given a certificate of honor by president Nixon's office for her dedicated service as a Republican Campaign Events Coordinator; arranging many large candidate rallies. But, once life did change direction for her, she did not slow down at all; instead she put her time into things like becoming a den mother for the local Cub Scouts that her boys were particiating in and being an active participant in facilitating the annual Milton Mills Fourth of July celebrations. She may or may not have been known to dress like the bag lady in those parades.
For many years, in retirement age, she still could not sit still at home and she would work for Dave Aubert's Auctions, the New Hampshire Farm Museum, and most well known by her adoring customers for working at Ira Miller's Store.
Gloria lived her entire life on Main Street in her beloved small town. Her mind was sharp until the very end, recalling every detail of history from the area. Because of her almost 94 years there and keen wealth of knowledge the residents of the town had given her the title, "Honorary Mayor of Milton Mills".
She will be deeply missed by her ten children: Judy & husband Vint Wallace, Pam & husband Jack Emrich, Jean & husband Ed DeAngelis, Shirley Kirk, Jimmy & wife Kathy Hutchins, David & wife Linda Hutchins, Sandra & husband Michael Richards, Lisa Lucier, Richard Hutchins, Dianne & husband Buck Thompson and her 19 Grandchildren and their spouses, many Great Grandchildren, and also several Great-Great Grandchildren who knew her as "Big Nana".
Predeceased by husband Edwin, grandson Edward "Little Eddie" DeAngelis, son-in-law Stephen Kirk & her 3 siblings: Herman Clough, Frances Cole, & Marjorie Hill.
A Funeral Service will be held on Monday September 16, 2024 at 1pm at Peaslee Funeral Home, 24 Central Street, Farmington, NH, with calling hours prior from 11am-1pm. Interment will follow at Milton Mills Cemetery. If desired, memorial donations may be made in her memory to Pope Memorial Humane Society, 221 County Farm Road, Dover, NH 03820.
