Gloria A. Glennon (Secord), age 93, of Farmington, NH, a woman of great resilience, strength, and immeasurable love passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on December 25, 2023.
Born and raised in Farmington, Gloria was a graduate of Farmington High School, Class of 1948. In 1949, while working at the local drug store, Gloria met her husband of 57 years, Bill. Gloria and Bill married in 1949 and together they raised their four children in Reading, Massachusetts.
Always a hard worker and happiest when she was keeping busy and helping others, Gloria worked as a waitress and restaurant hostess when her children were young. She also spent many years working in the payroll department at Marshalls. In 1986, Gloria and Bill decided to move back to New Hampshire where their life together had originally begun. Upon her return to New Hampshire, Gloria worked for Harris Graphics and then Four Corners Antiques until she retired.
Gloria loved to garden and would spend countless hours tending to her flower beds and shrubs. When she wasn't gardening, she enjoyed playing cards, working on puzzles, and crocheting. Gloria gifted handmade afghan blankets to her family, friends, and to the local VNA for other senior citizens to enjoy. Gloria was an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots who seldom missed a game. She was also a lover of all Alaskan survival reality TV shows and Chinese takeout.
Gloria was the devoted daughter of the late Harold and Gertrude (McNair) Secord. The beloved wife of the late William R. Glennon, Sr., the loving mother of William R. Glennon, Jr. and his wife Nancy of San Antonio, Texas, the late Cynthia Pouliot of Waterboro, Maine, Mary Lou Glennon of Farmington and Dorothy E. Glennon of Farmington. Gloria was a cherished grandmother, great grandmother, and great-great grandmother to a large family located all across the country. She was the loving aunt to many nieces and nephews. Gloria was the sister of the late Eleanor Duncan and her husband John, the late Dorothy Johnston and her husband Walter, and the late Robert Secord and his wife Lillian.
Gloria will be remembered as the matriarch of her family, for her kind and generous spirit, and for all the love she gave everyone who was lucky enough to know her.
