Gerald Lucien Souliere, age 81, of Townhouse Road in Milton, died peacefully at home, March 28, 2011, after a brief illness.
Born February 5, 1930 in Biddeford, Maine, son of George and Imelda (Lariviere) Souliere, he resided in Milton, NH for six years, having resided in Portsmouth, NH, 1964-1979 and resided in Bingham, Maine 1981-2004.
A Veteran of the United States Air Force, a Medic, he served for twenty years, from 1948-1968. He was also retired from Sprague Energy.
Most recently he enjoyed square dancing with "Happy Times" and "Nubble Light". He enjoyed archery for over fifty years, a member of Profile Bowmen in Gonic. Gerry was well known for his quilt making, having received ribbons for his work. He was also known for his moose hunting in Newfoundland, vegetable gardening, with his produce being sold at "Jimmy's Market" and rabbit pot pies at his business "The Rabbit-Tree" while in Bingham, Maine.
Widower of the late Agnes Pauline (Young) Souliere, who died in 2004, he is survived by 5 children: Gloria Perrier, Gerald L.Souliere, Jr., Roger Souliere, Elaine Wegner and Susanne Gowen, several grandchildren and great grandchildren, 3 siblings: Jeannette Lariviere, Maurice Souliere and Claire Bedard, also nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by 3 children: Phillip, Robert and Lorraine.
Calling hours are Thursday, March 31 from 2-3:30 pm at Peaslee Funeral Home, 24 Central Street, Farmington, NH with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 4:00 pm at St. Peter's Church, 88 Central Street, Farmington, NH with Fr. Daniel J. Sinibaldi, pastor, as celebrant. Interment will be on Friday April 1 at 11:00 am at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Biddeford, Maine.
