Gerald Alan "Gerry" Glidden age 79, a lifelong resident of Alton, NH, loving husband, Dad, Papy, great-grand Papy and friend has been called home on January 30, 2025, after a long battle with congestive heart failure. Words cannot express the deep hole left in our hearts! A stranger to none and a friend to everyone, he lived his life chasing the Devil while never losing his faith in Jesus.

Born and raised in Alton, NH, on July 6, 1945, son of Augustus Glidden and Mabel (Clough) Littlefield.

Gerry was a truck driver and heavy equipment operator his entire life.

He was a jack of all trades, master of most. He owned, collected, and worked on antique cars. Gerry enjoyed his time in his garage tinkering around, spending time with his family and friends, tractor pulls, and he was a huge animal lover, always taking in the strays. He never met anyone who didn't become a friend.

His fierce loyalty to family and friends, passion for life, never-ending witty humor and storytelling touched all who knew him. While we will forever miss seeing him drive through town in his "OLDFRT" Model A, it's left to us to carry his love, legacy and memory… knowing we have really big shoes to fill! He's gone but will never be forgotten! Until we meet again… "Watch your fingers, we're hanging up the phone."

Survived by his beloved wife of 52 years: Paula (Rutherford) Glidden, 4 children: Tammey Cornelissen and husband Arthur, Sherri Phillips, Michael Bridges and wife Amy, and Denise Glidden, 11 grandchildren: Tamara, Shannon, Cammi-Lynn, Kristin, Ashley, Madison, Savanna, Michael, Zachary, Conner, and Spencer, 9 great grandchildren: Zoe, Isaiah, Maelynn, Forest, Ryder, Magnus, Amelia, Braxton, and Cameron, brother: Richard Glidden and wife Germaine, sister: Nancy and husband John McKay, along with a numerous amount of nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, 2 sisters and 2 brother-in-laws: Norma Bickford and her husband Clark, and Barbara Lemery and husband George.

A calling hour will be held from 5:00pm – 6:00pm on Friday February 7, 2025, at Peaslee Alton Funeral Home, 12 School Street Alton, NH, with a service to follow at 6:00pm. Interment will be held in the spring at New Riverside Cemetery in Alton.
