Gerald "Jerry" Alfred FitzGerald, aged 87, passed away peacefully at his home in Middleton, New Hampshire, on August 9th, 2024. He was born on March 7th, 1937, in Saratoga Springs, New York, and married his wife, Shirley, in 1956. Jerry served in the Navy for 20 years. Afterward, he earned a bachelor's degree in Business Administration at the University of New Hampshire. After teaching electronics for several years, he entered the Civil Service and worked as an aviation quality assurance specialist. For his work, he was awarded the NASA Manned Flight Awareness Award. After retiring at age 61, he began woodworking and was accepted into the League of New Hampshire Craftsmen. Jerry was a lifelong athlete and fitness enthusiast. He was an avid skier, ping pong player, and weightlifter, and he later enjoyed playing pickleball. Many of his hobbies were passed on to his loving family.

He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Shirley; his children, Gregory and Debra; his grandchildren, Seth, Cody, and Keely; and his great-granddaughter, Molly.

A service will be held at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen, New Hampshire, on Tuesday August 13, 2024 at 2pm.
