George L. Smith
George L. Smith, 64, of Farmington, New Hampshire, passed away unexpectedly on August 15, 2026. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend who cherished the time he spent with the people he loved most.
George was born to Raymond Smith and Florence Young Smith and was one of nine children. He is survived by his brothers Billy Smith, Raymond Smith Jr. and wife Donna, Bobby Smith, and his sisters Bertha Howard and Judy Philbrick. He was predeceased by his parents; his sisters Nancy Gale and Dorothy Parent; and his brother James Smith.
George built a life he could be proud of through hard work and dedication. He followed his entrepreneurial spirit and started Seacoast Overhead Door in 1997, where he continued to grow his business for 27 years until retirement. Through his work, George became known for his determination, skill, and willingness to work hard to provide for his family.
Above all else, George was a family man. He is survived by his beloved wife of 41 years, Glorene Smith, with whom he shared a lifetime of memories, love, and companionship. He is also survived by his three sons: Joseph Smith and his wife, Shirley, of Lee, NH; Cory Smith and his wife, Ariana, of Chandler, AZ; and Joshua Smith and his wife, Mandi, of New Durham, NH. George was a proud grandfather to Emma, Isabel “Max”, Riley, Charlene “Charlee”, Vivienne, Lilah, and Luca.
George loved being surrounded by family and treasured the time spent together. He had a talent for woodworking and carpentry and could often be found working with his hands, creating or fixing something. He and Glorene also enjoyed camping together, making memories and enjoying the simple pleasures of life.
George was also known for his sense of humor and his love of cracking jokes. He never seemed to miss an opportunity to make someone laugh, even when his jokes weren't always exactly appropriate for the occasion. His quick wit, playful personality, and ability to bring laughter into a room will be fondly remembered by those who knew him best.
George will be deeply missed by his wife, sons, daughters-in-law, grandchildren, siblings, extended family, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. His memory will live on in the stories shared, the things he built with his hands, the laughter he brought to others, and, most importantly, in the hearts of those who loved him.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, August 28, at Peaslee Funeral Home in Farmington, NH, from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m., with a service immediately following from 11:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
Following the service, family and friends are invited to gather at the home of Joshua and Mandi Smith, 139 Birch Hill Road, New Durham, to continue sharing memories and celebrating George's life.
