Obituary

Sunset Beach, NC
George H. Rines, age 85, of Sunset Beach, NC, died October 12, 2021 at Concord Hospital in Concord, NH.
George was born on June 4, 1936 to Charles P. Rines, Sr. and Elsie (Londo) Rines in Alton, NH, where he grew up and attended Alton High School before going into the Navy.  He worked for Public Service of NH where he later retired.
Anyone who met him, knew him to be a kind and generous man.  His service in the Navy took him around the world but he was born a home town man and that is who he stayed.  He was a Mason and his service to others was evident in everything he did.
The family often joked about being the cobblers kids as he was always happy to assist his fellow man and you could always find him helping someone roof a house, dress a deer, or just stop by to chat.  His friends knew him to be true, loyal, and always ready with a cup of coffee and a good word.
As much as he loved people, he may have loved animals just as much.  His many dogs over the years were treated as family; with love and all the best belly scratches.  He loved going to his daughters farm where there was an abundance of goats, horses, and other various animals to keep him entertained and happy.
George was predeceased by his first wife, Priscilla (Cotton) Rines, his parents, and three brothers; Charles, Robert, and Tenny.
He is survived by his loving wife Carolyn and five children, Nadine Coots, from Martha's Vineyard, MA, Keith Rines from Gilmanton Iron Works, NH, Kelley Rines and her husband Roger Brown from Tabor City, NC, Kevin Caldwell from West Palm, Florida, and Lisa Caldwell and her significant other Daniel Lank from Barnstead, NH, and his sister Virginia Partridge from Rochester, NH. Grandchildren include Kaeleigh Coots, Rachel Fisher, Cameron Plummer-Rines, David Szelog, William Cash, Gabby Caldwell, Danielle Messier, Katelyn Lank, and Hunter Lank, a great-granddaughter Axllyn Isaac and many nieces and nephews.
Life is a gift and now the time has come for him to give it back.  His days on earth might have come to an end, but his memory will live on in the many people that loved him and called him a friend.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, October 17th, from 2-4 pm at the American Legion on Route 28N in Alton, NH. Another Celebration of Life will take place in North Carolina for his friends and family there.  Cremation care by Peaslee Alton Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Veterans Administration.
