George F. Livingston Sr. of Raymond, NH, passed away peacefully at Rochester Manor on Friday, January 28, 2022, at the age of 96.
Born October 5, 1925 in Boston, MA, he was the son of the late Frank Livingston and Gladys (Wescott). He resided in Raymond for the past two years with his son. Prior to that, he lived in Port Charlotte, FL after moving from Milton, NH. Before that he was in Nottingham and Hampton throughout his retirement years. He spent his working years traveling the world while serving as full time military.
George grew up in Massachusetts and joined the United States Navy when he was only 17 years old where he drove a landing craft in WWII. He then converted to United States Army. Some of the many highlights of his career were a motor pool where he drove and maintained jeeps, military police, tank commander in Germany, defending the border in South Korea, 82 nd Airborne paratrooper, Hawk missile technician and launch operator. After military retirement, his civilian jobs included working for Raytheon making parts for military Hawk missiles then he spent many years at Exeter Hospital and Rockingham County as a licensed electrician. He also managed to tune a few pianos on the side.
He was a member of the Milton Chapter of VFW Auxiliary for many years and attended the Farmington Congregational Church and Rochester United Methodist Church. In Florida, he was a member of St. Charles Borromeo parish and a member of their choir.
George was an avid coin collector and also had an extensive collection of knives and swords. In his spare time he also enjoyed pursuing other hobbies such as organizing photographs, researching family history/genealogy, reading, completing complicated jigsaw puzzles, working crossword puzzles, and playing skip-bo with the grandkids. He was always busy with home projects and improvements or repairs. He loved to spend time with his family especially for special dinner and movie or game nights.
Survived by his loving family; two sons-Lawrence J. Livingston (Dolores) of Palm Harbor, FL and George F. Livingston Jr. of Raymond, NH and three daughters-Carol Livingston Spell (Curtis) of Derry, NH, R.Jane Livingston Combs (Richard) of Farmington, NH, and Jennifer F. Livingston of Newport News, VA, a sister Sylvia Raymond in Massena, NY, as well as 10 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by the two loves of his life, Margaret E. (Riddle) Livingston (married for 56 yrs.) and Carolyn L. (Allen) Livingston (married for 14 yrs.), son David Livingston, granddaughter Katrina Pereira, grandson Benjamin Combs, and sister Blanche Veno (Norwood, MA) and brother Herbert Livingston (Billings, MT).
