George W. Gongas, age 82, of Buttercup Lane in Wakefield, NH, died January 16, 2015 at the VA Medical Center in Manchester.
Born March 24, 1932 in Danvers, Massachusetts, the son of George and Theresa (Metasous) Gongas, he resided in Beverly, Mass. for many years and resided in Wakefield, NH since 2002.
A Veteran of the United States Navy, he was a member of the D.A.V.
George was retired from the Riverworks plant at General Electric in Lynn, MA, after 28 years.
Survived by his wife of ten years: Joanne (Plourde) Gongas, 2 daughters: Karen and Carol, 6 stepchildren: Robert and wife Christine Quagan, Col. Ronald Celentano and partner Sheila Abbott, Lisa and husband Spencer Gurney, Richard and wife Catalina Celentano, Linda and husband Steve Simard, Erica and husband Robert Irvine, also many step grandchildren, a sister: Hannah Valles and his best pal "Charlie", his dog. He was predeceased by a sister June and a brother William.
A graveside service will be held in the spring at Southern Maine Veterans Cemetery in Springvale, Maine. Arrangements by Peaslee Funeral Home.
