Fred E. "Kippy" Carswell, age 89, of Wakefield Road in Union, died May 9, 2015 at the Rochester Manor.

Born July 1, 1925 in Rochester, the son of Fred E. and Frances (Ayer) Carswell, he was raised in Milton Mills and was a graduate of Nute High School, Class of 1942 in Milton. He resided in Union since 1983.

A United States Army Veteran, he served during World War II in the Pacific Theatre.

He was a retired Pipefitter with Local #788 at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard.

Kippy was a successful antique dealer, having owned and operated his family business Carswell Antiques & Appraisals, since 1947.

A member of the V.F.W., he was the last one of the original 38 charter members of Burroughs-Drew Post# 7663 in Union and the American Legion, the New Hampshire Antique Dealers Association, the New England Appraisers Association and Episcopal Church of St. John the Baptist in Sanbornville.

He enjoyed traveling with his wife and especially enjoyed collecting antiques.

Survived by his wife of 26 years: Diana V. (Salmi) Carswell of Union 2 sons: Robert Carswell of Milton Mills, Brian and wife Lori Carswell of Union, a daughter Betty and husband Steven Peterson of South Carolina, also several grandchildren, great grandchildren, cousins and 1 nephew. Predeceased by a daughter Linda Carswell Amerman in 2011, a son Neil W. Carswell in 2012 and by a brother Clifton Carswell.

A Graveside Service will be held on Tuesday, May 26, 2015 at 11am at Milton Mills Cemetery with Rev. Susan Poulin, rector of his church officiating. If desired, memorial donations may be made in his memory to the Kidney Foundation.
