Obituary

Frances Joan Beardsworth 89, of 5 French Hussey Road, Rochester NH passed away on November 3, 2026 in her home with loving family by her side. She was a very strong, gracious, and courageous woman. She was born on May 3, 1937 in Boston Massachusetts, the daughter of Norman James Beardsworth and Florence Pearl (McKeen) Beardsworth.

Growing up, Fran lived in many Massachusetts locations: Boston, Dorchester, Lynn and Worcester, as her father was a traveling mechanic for Singer Sewing Machine. She moved here to New Hampshire as a 12 year old, where she met Paul, her future husband. Fran joined Girl Scouts at that time, continuing to meet with her good friends up until this past Spring, with weekly chats on the phone with the girls when not visiting. Tenting with her pack became a fond memory. Learning to camp came in handy for later years with her family.

Fran graduated from Spaulding High School in 1955, working at the new Pease Airforce Base Headquarters as a secretary, shortly after graduation. She also worked at the family business, Western Auto, where days were spent with family. She was a Stay at home Mom for awhile and worked for Hubbard Shoes with her good friend Caroline Henderson, lacing shoes at home. Fran joined on at the UNH Cooperative Extension for a few years and then later at the Rochester Middle School as Secretary to the Principal. She was Secretary for 20+ years for the Superintendent of the Eastern Region Association of Advent Christian Churches. When she retired years later, it was from this position. About ten years after retirement, Fran came back into the work force and was a substitute for the lunch program in the Rochester Public School system for another decade, working many of the days with her daughter. She met many more friends here and loved being active in the school.

Fran enjoyed many activities in life. She loved camping, sailing trips, travel in her houseboat designed and built by Paul, capturing moments of her family through photos, and shopping with her sisters and her daughter. She shared a love of music with her son.

She loved her Girl Scout Troop and fashion. Fran read, colored nature scenes, enjoyed beach, river, and lake trips and time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Fran attended all of her grandchildren's first school days, sporting events, recitals, and graduation events, being one of their biggest fans throughout her life.

Fran was able to spend the majority of her life with her High School sweetheart Paul, marrying on January 12, 1957. They started their married life in a trailer while her husband was serving in the Navy. They moved their trailer to Washington Street, where Paul built their first family home. About 15 years later, Paul built a house of stone on Estes Road and the family moved there. Years later, their grandchildren would come to know this as their grandparents home, the location for sleepovers and many holidays. Their final move was to French Hussey Road, in order to live next to their daughter and her family. Separated by a field of apple trees, many trips between the two houses were made for special events and visits.

Fran lived life well and was full of love for others. She was also full of love for her Lord. She cherished her relationship with Jesus and walked with Him and talked with Him to her dying day. She was an active member of Emmanuel Advent Christian Church and loved her church family dearly. Fran was a Deaconess for many years visiting the "shut-ins" and nursing homes. She sent daily cards and notes of encouragement and thankfulness to people through-out her life .

She and her husband had a wonderful eldercare, where they regularly had gatherings in their home. Fran went through many trials throughout the years which only strengthened her faith, creating an even more resilient, persevering and compassionate woman.

Fran is survived by her spouse, Arthur P. Reynolds, daughter Holly A. Clement and her husband Jonathan W. Clement of Rochester, NH, son Robert B. Reynolds of Rochester, NH. and her sister Norma J. Merrill of Dover, NH. She has 5 grandchildren: Amber and husband Tyler Davis, Andrew and fiancé Darrian Clement, Adam Clement, Alexander and wife Ludmilla Clement, and Alan Clement, as well as 7 great grandchildren: Oakley, Daisy, Charlee, Anna-Theia, McKenna, Westley, and Ace. She spent a lot of time with her nephew Frank and his wife Kim Beardsworth, loved by many other nieces and nephews as well. Fran was predeceased by her mom Florence, father Norman, sisters Mary Ruth Scott and Jayne Edna Day, and brother James Frank Beardsworth.

Time spent with family was very important to Frances and she was able to go on one last Dolly Copp camping trip with Paul and their family this past September. She was also able to have one last leaf peep trip up North with her daughter. Family stayed with Fran and Paul through her last weeks here with us.

A Celebration of Fran's life will be held on Sunday, November 15th at 3:00 PM at Emmanuel Advent Christian Church, located in Rochester, NH. A graveside service will be held on Monday, November 16th at 10:00 AM at Pine Grove Cemetery, located in Farmington NH. Flowers are welcome.
