Farmington, NH
Floyd I. "Doc" Tanner, age 96, of Main Street, Farmington, NH, died March 24, 2011 at home.
Born June 25, 1914 in Farmington, the son of George I. and Gertrude M. (Smart) Tanner, he was a lifelong resident there.
Floyd was a veteran of WWII, having served with the United States Navy on a PBY5, patroling the Straits of Gibraltar and North Africa. During his tour of duty, he also traveled to Iceland and Great Britain.
Retired from Thompson Tool in Rochester, he was a member of the American Legion in Farmington for more than 50 years.
He continued his love of planes, later in life, by constructing and flying remote control models. He enjoyed all forms of outdoor activities, hunting, fishing, canoeing, hiking, camping, water and snow skiing. He constructed his own ice boat and entertained friends and family on Merrymeeting Lake.
Floyd had a great sense of humor and a wonderful laugh. To sit with him, was to spend time being entertained with great conversation and memories from his past. He was always willing to help friends and family.
He is survived by his wife Edna L. (Tanner) Marcoux, also several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister Evelyn Furber.
As per his wishes, a private interment will be held at Pine Grove Cemetery in Farmington, later in the spring. Arrangements are in the care of Peaslee Funeral Home, 24 Central Street, Farmington, NH.
