IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Eugene V.
Petrell
August 26, 1934 – August 30, 2022
Eugene Vincent Petrell, age 88, passed away peacefully on August 30, 2022, with family by his side. He was born to Domenick and Assunta Petrell and was the last of ten siblings to greet God at his doors.
He was a very proud Air Force Veteran, stationed in Washington State where he met Trula (Wright) Petrell. He ended his career in the military, joining Microsonics as an engineer, to help raise their three children. He was predeceased by his son Mark Petrell of Wareham, MA and survived by his two daughters; Kathy Foster of Dover, NH and Andrea Hood of Effingham, NH. He has five grandchildren (Tamara Milligan, Douglas Whitener, James Rose III, Brianna Rose, and Jonathan Rose) who coined him as "Poppie." This would be the name that everyone came to know him by. He has six great-grandchildren (Kayden Tyler, Maverick Milligan, Kolton Rose, Landon Rose, Ryker Milligan, Salem Whitener) and another one he sadly never got to meet (Riley Jean Rose) on the way. All of his great/grandchildren had a very special place in his heart.
He had a passion for keeping his family history alive. He became an avid researcher of his ancestry, keeping him busy during the latter part of his life. He recently connected with many living cousins in Italy and couldn't be prouder to share his findings with his loved ones. He was a man of routine, carrying over from his military days which he would commonly refer to as his "rituals." He loved to garden and was especially fond of his tomato plants, always moving his chair around in the sun to admire them. He was stubborn, funny, caring and will be forever missed.
He was greatly involved with the Daniel Webster Masonic Temple in Marshfield, MA, passing away as a 32nd degree Mason and a member of the Scottish Rite. They will be helping to give him a true Masonic Service alongside a Military tribute which was one of his biggest wishes. Services will be held graveside at the Holy Family Cemetery in Rockland, MA on Saturday, September 10, 2022 at 10am, family and friends are welcome.
