Ericka Hyslop-Ames

Ericka passed away peacefully on February 2, 2016 at her Dad's home surrounded by her family and close friends.

Ericka was born November 27, 1973 in Laconia, NH. She is survived by her husband Art Ames and their children Jack and Alana, her father, Glen Hyslop and stepmother Susan Pierce, mother Frances Hyslop, her siblings Sherry, Edward and Luther, nieces Katelyn and Angelea and nephew Ethan, as well as numerous close cousins. She was a graduate of Laconia Christian Academy and continued on to earn an Early Childhood Education certificate at New Hampshire Technical Institute in Laconia and eventually earned an MNA certification while working at the Carroll County Nursing Home in Ossipee, NH.

Ericka had a deep love for her pets which included many feline rescues over the years and her dogs Renzo and Abby. She was passionate about caring for her animals and providing care to those which had no care.

She also loved spending time outdoors. Hiking, camping and driving her convertible with the top down were among her favorite activities. She was also instrumental in organizing frequent family cookouts at her father's house and planning some of the best holiday parties with friends and family.

Ericka was a kind person who left a positive impact on anyone she interacted with throughout her 42 years of full and positive life. Even when facing the difficult treatments and therapies involved with her illness over the last 8 years, Ericka maintained a poise and grace the likes of which few could achieve in perfect health. She stood out as a beacon of hope and inspiration to many in similiar situations and made life a beautiful gift that she shared with us all.

Calling hours will be held on Sunday February 7, 2016 from 2pm-4pm at Peaslee Funeral Home, 24 Central Street in Farmington, NH.

In memory of Ericka's love of providing for animals in her community and beyond, there will be a program established in the coming days to help provide necessary medical treatment for pets that may otherwise be forgotten or go without. Any persons or groups wishing to donate to this program via financial support or services are encouraged to contact her brother at luther.hyslop@gmail.com and he will direct your generosity to the proper outlet.
