Unity, NH--Elaine Margaret Grant, age 92, formerly of Rochester, NH and Clarksburg, WV, died after a long period of declining health August 14, 2014 at Sullivan County Healthcare in Unity, NH. She was surrounded during her last days by her loving family and dedicated care givers whom she considered her personal friends.

Born May 2, 1922 in Manchester, NH, the daughter of William B. and Leona (Bartlett)Grant, she was a graduate of Hesser Business College. She became church secretary in her home church of Clarksburg, West Virginia where she lived with her first husband, Stephen C. Allen. She retired from that position in the 1990s but remained active in church life. After her husband Steve's death, she met and married Charles A. Zeller, also of Clarksburg.

Highly gifted and talented, Elaine was an accomplished seamstress and doll designer. She created and marketed her own line of porcelain dolls, creating the molds, firing the ware, building the dolls and creating all the clothing for "Lanie's Liebchen." She was a talented artist, working in pastels and oils and was also a writer, crafting many poems and works treasured by the family. Elaine had a deep and active faith in God, serving as a lay preacher. Upon her return to New Hampshire, she became a member of her sister Barbara's church in Farmington, NH where she was active and faithful. She was an accomplished musician, singing choir and solo work as a tenor and alto with a rich, beautiful voice that will be greatly missed by her family.

Until her final weeks, Elaine was singing, laughing, praying and reading poetry and verse to her fellow residents at her nursing home and was very active in resident community events. Elaine enjoyed horseback riding, arts and crafts, her pets, reading, board games, and loved the ocean. She loved her family with a deep and concerned passion, and was her happiest when gathered with friends and loved ones.

Before residing at Sullivan County Healthcare to live nearer her sister, Norma, Elaine lived in Rochester, NH after her retirement and had lived in Clarksburg, West Virginia for most of her adult life. She had many friends in Clarksburg, and her coming home to New Hampshire in her elder years was a difficult decision.

She was predeceased by two husbands: Stephen C. Allen and Charles A. Zeller; her elder sister, Barbara Drew; her niece, Rhonda Goodwin; and her dear friend, Allan Drew.

Elaine is survived by her sister, Norma G. McDonough and her husband Fred of Newport, NH; many nieces and nephews; special close friends Gail Laker-Phelps and her husband Richard, and many, many friends.
