Edmund L. Smith, Jr., age 80, of Main Street in Union, died June 21, 2019, quietly at home.

Born November 8, 1938 in Union, a son of Edmund L. and Hannah (Demeritt) Smith, he lived in Union for most of his life.

Edmund served with the United States Army in the late 1950's in radio communications. He met his wife in France, where they married and returned to the United States of America.

He was an avid outdoor sportsman with a love of fishing and hunting. He loved being outdoors in general, raising small farm animals and gardening. His family was important to him. He enjoyed going to his grandkids sporting events, dance recitals, concerts and events.

Widower of the late Monique Smith, he is survived by their children: Gerald Smith of Henniker, Dominique Rust of Hooksett, Marc Smith of Union, Michelle Rogers of Effingham and Juliette Smith of Union, grandchildren: Jacob Dodge of Nashua, Megan Decater of Bennington, Kadie Charron of Union, Nicole Rust and Alexander Rust, both of Hooksett and Kyle Rogers of Effingham, siblings: Dorothy, Shirley, Lee, Richard and David, also nieces and nephews. Predeceased by siblings: Sylvia and Jimmy.

Calling hours are Thursday from 5-7pm at Peaslee Funeral Home, 24 Central Street, Farmington, NH. A graveside service will be held on Friday, June 28, 2019 at 2pm at Milton Mills Cemetery.
