Edith Rowan, age 93 of Wakefield, NH, passed away peacefully, April 14, 2023 at Langdon Place of Dover, NH.
Born April 25, 1929 in New York, New York, daughter of Ludwig and Frieda (Cassabohm) Haake, she grew up in Forest Hills, New York. Edith married her childhood sweetheart Raymond M. Rowan and they lived in Freeport, New York for forty years, moving to Wakefield, New Hampshire in 2009.
Edith had a brief career as Secretary with Metropolitan Life Insurance Company for ten years and also had worked as Medical Secretary for a medical practice.
A homemaker, she was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Edith was a proud member of the Freeport PTA and had served as President of Merrick Chapter, Homemakers Council in Nassau County. She loved doing crafts and spending time with her grandchildren.
Widow of Raymond M. Rowan, who died in 2015, they were married for 61 years. She is survived by their 3 children: Donald & wife Deborah Rowan, Raymond Rowan, Lynne & husband Bruce Clement, 8 grandchildren: Cassandra & husband Matt, Donald, Jr. & wife Gina, Steven, Elizabeth & husband Andrew, Scott, Katherine, Brian & Matthew, also her cousin Rudolf. Predeceased by 2 brothers: Herbert & Ludwig.
Calling hours are Thursday from 5-7pm at Peaslee Funeral Home, 2079 Wakefield Road in Sanbornville (Wakefield) NH, with a Funeral on Friday April 21, 2023 at 10am at Peaslee Funeral Home, followed by interment at Stonehedge Cemetery in Wakefield, NH.
