Milton, NH

Edith Irene Byrd, age 90, a longtime resident of Milton, most recently resided at the Studley Home in Rochester, went home to be with the Lord on December 8, 2020, at Frisbie Memorial Hospital in Rochester.

She was born February 6, 1930 in Houston, Texas, the daughter of Silas Claude Hickman and Aretia (Cooke) Hickman.  She married the love of her life, Donald Lee Byrd on August 23, 1953, in Norwood, Pennsylvania. They moved to Milton, New Hampshire in 1970 and raised their six children.

Edie loved being a Mom and her family always came first. She worked at the Paul School in Sanbornville and also at Milton Elementary as a Chapter I teacher's helper.

A  long standing member of the Milton Community Church, she taught Sunday school, served on the Diaconate, Christian Education, Women's Union and Missions and wherever needed. She loved her church family.

She was predeceased by her husband of 33 years, Donald Lee Byrd, and her three brothers. She is survived by her six children: Cheryl A. and husband Steve Labrie, Bonnie I. and husband Michael Logan, Donald E. Byrd, Oscar G. and wife Debbie Byrd, Wayne E. and wife Wendy Byrd, Edith L. and husband Thomas Petroccia, twelve grandchildren and  seventeen great grandchildren.

A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, December 15, 2020, 11am at Peaslee Funeral Home, 24 Central Street, Farmington, NH. Interment will follow at Milton Mills Cemetery.
