Dorothy May Davis, age 96, of Barnes Avenue in Alton, died February 28, 2012 at Huggins Hospital in Wolfeboro.
Born April 29, 1915 in Beverly, MA, the daughter of Herbert and Hilda Mary (Roberts) Pogson, she resided in Saugus, MA for many years and resided in Alton, NH since 1968.
Dorothy was employed at General Electric Co. in Lynn, MA during World War II and also was a homemaker. She had a great love for reading books, sewing, hobbies and crafts, also her garden of flowers and vegetables, a member of the Alton Garden Club. Also a member of the friends of the Gilman Library. She enjoyed her dear friends, neighbors and family that made visits to her home.
Widow of the late George K. Davis, who died in 1982, she was predeceased by their daughter Nancy Lorraine Davis and her siblings: Arthur W. Pogson, Hilda Bertha Tarbox and Beatrice C. Pogson, she is survived by her nieces and nephews: Carol A. and husband Fred Collins of Alton, Douglas A. and wife Linda Pogson of Saugus, MA, Judith and husband William Flynn and Barbara Bernard, all of Millbury, MA, Jean Powers of Ipswich, MA and a cousin Richard Wilkinson of Long Beach, CA, a great nephew Matthew and wife Jennifer Collins and 2 great nieces: April and husband Michael Iannoli, Kimberly and husband Brian Poisson, 2 great great nieces: Katlyn Iannoli and Kendra Poisson, 1 great great nephew Christopher Iannoli, a sister in law Natalie Pogson of Derry, NH and a former sister in law Marion L. Williams of Alton, also a dear family friend Thomas Todd of Franklin, MA.
Interment will be in the spring at New Riverside Cemetery in Alton. If desired, memorial donations may be made in her memory to the Community Church of Alton or the Gilman Library.
