Center Barnstead, NH
Donald "Don" Carman, age 76, peacefully passed away at home on December 26, 2021, surrounded by his family. Born February 19, 1945, in Brooklyn, NY. He was raised in Valley Stream, NY and Center Moriches, NY, by his parents, Grace (Schlueter) and Henry V. Carman. A veteran of the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War, he served in Hawaii, the Philippines and on the USS Oriskany. He was retired from the NH Technical Institute where he had been a maintenance supervisor. Don loved to travel and had the opportunity to vacation in Hawaii, visit Ireland and to visit Italy. As much as he loved to travel, he loved to be at home just as much. He loved our little farm and took much pleasure in having his kids and grandchildren enjoying the land along with him. He moved his family from New York to New Hampshire in 1978, and always said it was the best decision he ever made. He renovated our home, enjoyed the family farm life and raising animals and taught his kids the value of good hard work, the importance of always doing your best and to be loyal and loving to family. Over the years he was a 4-H club leader, a member of the NH 4-H Leaders Association, a member of the Knights of Columbus, a little league coach and an overall great dad. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Regina (Kach), his son, Donald M., his son, Christopher, daughter in law Roberta (Martinelli), grandson Alessandro; son Brendan, daughter in law Carolyn (Hartnett), grandchildren, Brian, Jason, Hailey and Andrew; his daughter Colleen (Carman) Strang, son in law, Keith Strang ,and grandchildren Lillian and Aidan; his daughter Mary Grace (Carman) Butka, son in law, Mathew Butka and grandchildren, Vincent, Simon, Brendan, Emmaline, Magdalena, Sophranie, William, and Levi. He is also survived by a sister, Kathleen (Carman) Delamater and her husband. Lawrence Delamater of Shirley, NY. Following a Mass of Christian Burial at St Katharine Drexel Catholic Church in Alton, NH, he will be buried at the New Hampshire Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen NH. In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations to go to the Payson Cancer Center at Concord Hospital, or the American Cancer Society.
