Donald E. Bergeron Sr. age 83 of South Roberts Cove Road in Sanbornville, NH, died February 24, 2015 at the Huggins Hospital in Wolfeboro.
Born June 14, 1931 in Agawam, Massachusetts, son of Emile C. and Beatrice A. (Devost) Bergeron, he graduated Chicoppe High School, attended Embry Riddle School of Aviation after being honorably discharged from the US Air Force where he served our country as a mechanic during the Korean War.
Donald's civilian aviation career spanned Crop Dusting, Flight Instructor for the US Army, Flight Engineer for Continental Air Lines, Co-Pilot for Slick Airways and flying 23 years for Eastern Airlines before retiring as a Captain in 1987.
After retirement from Eastern Airlines he gained his Canadian citizenship and moved from his long term residence of Derry, NH to Quebec City and Montreal where he continued flying for Air Dorval before retiring for good and settling in Sanbornville, NH.
In his retirement years he enjoyed playing pool and cribbage at Club Victoire of Rochester, singing in the folk band at St. Anthony's Parish in Sanbornville, and riding his bicycle for fitness and occasionally competing in the Maine Sr. Games.
Survived by his 3 Sons: Donald E. Jr. and wife Linda Bergeron of Candia, NH, Mark E. and wife Jane Bergeron of Senoia, GA, Raymond J. Bergeron of Auburn, NH, 2 ex-wives: Jeanne M. Bergeron of Derry, NH, and Donna Bergeron of FL, 2 brothers: Francis and Lawrence Bergeron and 1 Sister: Lucille Mainville all of Massachusetts, 4 Grandchildren, 6 Great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by 2 brothers: Edward and Richard Bergeron.
Calling hours will be on Sunday March 1, 2015 from 2-4 pm at the Peaslee Funeral Home 2079 Wakefield Road in Sanbornville (Wakefield) NH. Funeral mass will be held on Monday March 2, 2015 at 11:30am at St. Anthony's Church Meadow Street Sanbornville (Wakefield) NH.
