Dona D.
Plourde
June 4, 1957 – June 7, 2026
It is with deep sorrow and profound love that we announce the death of Dona D. Plourde, beloved wife, mother, Nana, sister, and friend. Dona died at Massachusetts General Hospital on Sunday, June 7th, 2026, after a lengthy and courageous health battle.
Dona was born in Massachusetts on June 4th, 1957, to Sterling and Geraldine Grondin.
In 1977, Dona married her soulmate, and other half Paul Plourde. They built their life and family in Farmington, NH for close to 50 years.
It would be impossible to sum up this extraordinary woman in a few paragraphs. Those that knew and loved her know that she was independent, outrageously opinionated, loved a good debate, fiercely loyal and protective of those she loved, feisty, creative, a great tipper, smart, lover of dogs, and simple things like a good ice coffee and a meteor shower. She was unforgettable. Happiest on the back of Paul’s motorcycle or on a beach in Key West with him, around the dinner table with the noise so loud it was deafening with her children, grandchildren and husband, or decorating and planning for the holidays earlier every year. Dona spent her life living what she preached “each day is a gift, say what you want to say and do not wait until tomorrow to tell someone you love them.” She bloomed in every role she held, but like the Calla Lilies she loved so much – her not so secret favorite garden was watching her four grandchildren bloom. They love her as fiercely as she loved them and will remember the incredible memories that she shared with each of them.
Dona is survived by her husband Paul who was with her until her last breath, her daughter Jessica Garlough (Plourde) and husband Jeff of Maine, their children Brady, Andrea, and Gloria, her son Joshua Plourde, his wife Heather from NH, and their son Colton. Along with siblings, friends, aunts, nieces, nephews, neighbors, co-workers, and others who all loved and will deeply miss her.
The family takes comfort in knowing she is somewhere by the beach, listening to the waves, with a margarita in hand and her dogs at her feet in the sand. Though her earthly life has ended, she will remain forever present in the hearts of those who loved her.
At the request of Dona, there will be no public services at this time.
