Obituary

Derek Leroy Jenness, age 28, went to be with our heavenly father on Sunday, October 21, 2012, after a lifelong illness.

Born September 17, 1984 in Rochester, the son of Wayne J. and Kim L. (Roy) Jenness, he was a lifelong resident of Farmington and a graduate of Farmington High School, Class of 2003.

Derek lived a short but inspirationally full life. Derek loved life, God, his family and just people in general. He loved to watch and assist his nephew play football for the Roger Allen Gold Bandits. He was their biggest supporter. He enjoyed spending time with the staff at the Goodwin Library and reading. Derek loved the outdoors. He liked to fish, he often would catch more of us then the fish. Derek was a man with a kind heart and would do anything for anyone.

He volunteered for Victim's Inc. of Rochester. Derek loved to meet new people and would always put a smile on your face. He was a member of the Revolution Church of Rochester. Derek also enjoyed attending AA with his father. He was a Rochester City Bowling Champ when he was younger. Derek enjoyed collecting dragons and knives. He loved Tattoos and everyone he had meant something special to him.

Survived by his parents: Wayne and Kim Jenness, his sister Meleigha Jenness and her son Amias Jenness, all of Farmington, maternal grandmother: Eleanor Roy of Middleton, his wife Lisa Johnson-Jenness and 2 daughters: Kayla Tuttle and Mary Berry, of Farmington, his uncle and aunt: Leo and Linda Roy of Middleton, uncle Robert Jenness of Farmington, also many other aunts, uncles and cousins, including cousin Samantha and Phillip Goodrich of Rochester. Derek had many friends, including his best friend: J.T. Spaulding. He was predeceased by his paternal grandmother Marion Hibbard and his maternal grandfather Leo R. Roy.

Calling hours are Friday from 4-8 pm at the Peaslee Funeral Home 24 Central Street in Farmington. A Funeral will be held at the Revolution Church on Lowell Street in Rochester on Saturday, October 27, 2012 at 11:00 am with the Pastor Cliff McKinley officiating. Interment will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery in Farmington. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in his memory to help defray the funeral expense c/o Meleigha A.
