David Karl
Thurston
July 16, 1959 – May 23, 2026
Wolfeboro, NH
It is with heavy hearts and profound love that we announce the passing of David Karl Thurston of 279 South Main Street, Wolfeboro NH. He passed away with his family by his side on May 23rd, 2026.
Dave was born on July 16th, 1959 in Dubuque Iowa; son of Charles and Ramona (Frett) Thurston. He grew up in the Dubuque Iowa area before relocating to begin a family in New Hampshire. His construction business and building were his passions from very young in life and worked his business until the very end. You could often find Dave amidst conversation with friends and acquaintances of past, seemingly to have known everyone he ran into. His most recent hobbies were his golden retrievers Ksey and Cash and the happiness they brought him. He also enjoyed visiting family and friends back home in Iowa multiple times a year, and the ability to slow down enough to enjoy simpler things in life. You could always see him at any of his grandchildren’s sport or school events as they were his highlight in life. He took great pride in watching his grandchildren grow and learn from his guidance and strength.
Dave was a devoted father and adoring Grampy. He leaves behind a legacy of love and is survived by the love of his life and wife Mari Leather, daughters; Danielle Marique and significant other Andrew of Milton, NH with their daughters Lillian, Kaylinn, Emilie, Sydney and Riley, and Julie Drouin and husband Bill of Sandown, NH with their son Colton, and Mari’s sons Gregory and wife Jennica of CA and George of Tuftonboro, NH. In addition to his immediate family, his parents Charles and Mona, of Dubuque IA, brothers and sisters; Dan, Chris, Vicki, Linda and John and many other family members share the joy of cherishing fond memories of Dave.
Private celebration of life services will be held at a later date in both New Hampshire as well as in Iowa.
Dave’s kindness, generosity and love for his family will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him. He not only built houses, but relationships and memories that will stand the test of time.
