David S. Stevens, age 84 of High Street in Sanbornville passed away on Friday, February 20, 2015.
David was born April 2, 1930 in Sanbornville, the son of Lloyd E. and Arlyne (Dodge) Stevens and was a lifelong resident of Sanbornville. He graduated Spaulding High School in 1948. On September 3, 1955 he married the former Beverly A. Dodier, also of Sanbornville.
David proudly served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He owned and operated David Stevens, Inc., transportation (school buses) for many years. An avid skier, he was head of the Moose Mountain ski patrol, and a lake patrol officer for the NH Department of Safety. He also owned a general construction company.
David loved the Town of Wakefield, having served as a Selectman, on the Budget Committee, the Planning Board and as Assessor. He was also instrumental in the creation of Turntable Park and served as a volunteer fireman, and volunteer on the ambulance.
Survived by his wife of 59 years: Beverly A. (Dodier) Stevens and their children: David S. Stevens, Jr. and wife Cathy, Suzan L. and husband Rexford Shaw, Craig J. and wife Ilese, 5 grandchildren: Taylor, Rachel and Aaron, Spencer and Cate, and also a great granddaughter Macie.
A private service will be held at the Episcopal Church of St. John the Baptist, with urn interment in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in his memory to Episcopal Church of St. John the Baptist, PO Box 249, Sanbornville, NH 03872.
