Christopher McCann, 54, of New Durham, NH passed away peacefully on May 1, 2022 at Massachusetts General Hospital. Born October 27, 1967, Chris was the son of Barry and Ellen McCann, Edgefield, SC, and the husband of Debora (Egolf) McCann.
He was an Earth Science teacher at Dover High School for 24 years. Chris also coached baseball, softball and soccer. His favorite students of all were his two children who he was so incredibly proud of.
A native of Coopersburg, PA, Chris was a graduate of Southern Lehigh High School, where he met his best friend and life partner, Deb. They shared 37 years together, including time in State College, PA, where they both attended Penn State University. Chris was a 1998 graduate of Penn State with a bachelor of science degree and a lifelong Nittany Lions fan. They were married June 22, 1996 and would have celebrated their 26th anniversary this year.
An avid sports fan, Chris enjoyed watching football, especially the Philadelphia Eagles, and went on many family outings to Beaver Stadium for Penn State football and Fenway Park to cheer on the Red Sox or Phillies, a loyalty born growing up in Pennsylvania.
Chris' greatest joy in life was his children, Morgan and Dylan. He coached them in youth sports and was a devoted and loving father in every aspect of their lives. He enjoyed hiking and the outdoors and spent many family vacations camping in the mountains of New England.
In addition to his parents and wife, he leaves behind his children, Morgan and Dylan McCann. He is survived by a brother Brian McCann, wife Ruthann, and sister, Catherine (McCann) Pochek, husband Albert. He is also survived by his in-laws, Headley and Teresa White, Larry and Diana Egolf; his brother-in-laws Timothy White; David Egolf, wife Rachael; and Timothy Egolf, wife Elizabeth; and sister-in-laws Caroline White, partner Timothy Campbell, and Jennifer (Egolf) DiMaira, husband Michael.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 7th at 10:00 AM at Holy Rosary Church, Rochester, NH. Visitation will begin at 9:00 AM at the church. Burial will follow at John C. Shirley Memorial Cemetery, New Durham, NH. Arrangements by Peaslee Funeral Home of Farmington, NH.
