Cathy Ann Gray Carney was born July 26,1967 and on October 12, 2024, she passed away at age 57, unexpectedly, after completing her third road race of the year.
Growing up in Milton and New Durham she graduated from Kingswood Regional High School in Wolfeboro class of 1985 and received a scholarship to attend Mount Holyoke College,obtaining a bachelor's degree in 1989. Cathy then moved west to pursue a masters degree at Utah State University in Logan.
Cathy's life was one of support of the environment and the theater. She worked a number of years for the AMC at Pinkham Notch base camp and was manager of Swan's Falls Campground on the Saco River.
She met her future husband Alex Carney while working as a costumer and seamstress for a theater group in Massachusetts. Together they shared over 14 years together and in marriage, at their home in New York City.
Cathy touched the lives of many through her career, as member of local IATSE 764, working as a tailor and stitcher, from the Annual Fashion Week in the city, to such Broadway productions as the Lion King.
She will be missed by many family and friends including her constant dog companion Ollie, husband Alex, parents John and Diane Gray, brother Craig Gray and his wife Angela Berube and many nieces,nephews,and a grand niece.
