It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Carolyn Day Chase of Brookfield, NH. She died at the age of 91 on Thursday, November 2, 2023. Calling hours will be held at the Peaslee Funeral Home in Farmington, NH on Friday, November 10th from 6:00-8:00 pm. Funeral service will be held at the Union Congregational church in Union NH on Saturday, November 11th at 3:00.
Carolyn was born in Methuen, Massachusetts on May 30, 1932. She attended Bates College in Lewiston, Maine (1949-1953) where she met her husband of 60 years, Leonard Richard Chase (1928-2013) from Brooklyn, New York. Her major in theater served her well in her many pursuits after starting a family. She was an active community member in both Brookfield and Hampstead, NH. She was the director and a teacher at The Gingerbread House Kindergarten in Hampstead from 1967-1982. She then went on to work as a guide and role player at The Strawberry Banke Museum in Portsmouth, then at the Independence Museum in Exeter and finally at the Farm Museum in Milton, NH. Her love of teaching and role playing of various women from local history was an inspiration to all she encountered.
She is survived by her six children: Sheldon Chase of Ormand Beach, FL, Brandon Chase of Bizbee, AZ, Vernon Chase of Campton, NH, Melissa Chase Doukmak of Fleming Island, FL, Amanda Chase of Wolfeboro, NH and Melinda Chase Dennehy of Brookfield, NH. She is also survived by her loving granddaughters: Avila Cranfill, Hannah Fenderson, Rachel Graham, Carys Dennehy Emma Doukmak, Abigail Doukmak and Catherine Dennehy.
