Carol Lynn Downing passed away suddenly, the morning of December 9, 2025, at the age of 68, with her beloved daughter Keri, son-in-law Mark, her grandchildren and brothers by her side. She was born on August 23, 1957 in Framingham, Mass. Carol grew up in a tight knit community in Ashland Mass until age 14. Her neighbors all knew each other and became a part of her and her brother's lives spending most of their time outside climbing trees and playing in the yard and forest.

New Hampshire became her home in 1972, when her family moved to Gilmanton Iron Works, NH.

She attended schools in New Hampshire and graduated from Laconia High School in 1975 and Lakes Region Community College with a degree in accounting.

She became a true New Hampshire lover and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends on Crystal Lake. Her career evolved over the years from making pizzas with Ernie Gillan, Sr. at Woody's Bayview

and later helping manage Gillan Marine, branching out to SeaCoast Harley Davidson and Green Mountain Harley Davidson in VT and for the last 30 years at Mountain View Yacht Club and Irwin Marine.

Carol loved nature and animals. Throughout her life she had a pet squirrel, swan, raccoon, rescued an owl (nursed it back to health), 2 thoroughbred horses, rabbits, pigs, goats, geese, a pony, and always had dogs and cats. Known for being a bit of a tomboy as a kid, she became an avid outdoorsman and loved being in the woods with her hunting buddies. She successfully harvested 4 bucks and a bull moose over the years.

Carol was truly beloved by all who knew her. She cherished her family above all and she was affectionately called "Gram" by her 3 grandkids.

She is survived by her daughter Keri Thomas and her husband Mark; her 3 grandchildren and their significant others : Tyler Schultz and Deanna, Kaylee Duquette and Casey, and Robbie Gordon, Jr. and Avery; Brothers : Rick Downing and his wife Debbie; Greg Downing and his wife Polly; and Dr. Joe Downing and his wife Elizabeth Bikowski, as well as a niece, nephews, cousins, extended family and so many friends. She was also extremely excited to be welcoming a great-granddaughter in the spring. Her smile and spirit will remain with all of us she touched. She is now at peace in heaven joining her parents Lois and Paul Downing, Nephew Jason Downing, Sr. and Dana Aylward (Father of Keri).

Calling hours and a service to remember her life, will be held at Peaslee Funeral Home, 24 Central Street, Farmington, NH on Friday December 19th from 12-2. In lieu of flowers please consider donating to the New Hampshire Humane Society in her honor.
