Candace "Candy" Mae Whalen, age 67 of Ridge Road has gone to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on March 17, 2019 at home surrounded by family.
Born in Rochester on July 7, 1951, the daughter of Newell J. and Pauline L. (Hartford) Whalen.
She was a caregiver to her beloved nephew Scott Newton for 33 years.
Candace was a lifelong resident of Farmington and a graduate of Farmington High School in 1969. An avid sports fan, she was inducted to the Farmington Hall of Fame of Sports in 2004. Candy had a music ministry all her life. Singing at church group homes and nursing homes. The highlight of her life was the trip to Israel to walk where Jesus walked.
Former member, church choir director and treasurer of Farmington First Baptist Church for 30 years, also the youth group Sunday school teacher. Candy was an active member of First Freewill Baptist Church of New Durham, still serving her Lord.
Survived by her mother Pauline and 2 sisters, Jean A. Newton, Sharon L. Cardosi and many nephew and nieces, a special niece Jenna Jean Newton. Predeceased by her father, Newell, a sister, Sandra J. Cardinal, her brother, Barry J. Whalen, and nephew Scott Newton.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday March 30, 2019 at 11am at the First Freewill Baptist Church, 20 Depot Road New Durham, NH 03855 with a Calling Hour prior to the service at 10am.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be in her name to Dover Wentworth Douglass Seacoast Cancer Center, 789 Central Ave, Dover, NH 03820.
Cremation care by Peaslee Funeral Home.
