Elizabeth "Betty" (Salyards) Tarlton, age 87, passed away after a brief illness at Wolfeboro Bay Care, to be with her Lord and Saviour, who she has worshipped since her teenage years.
Born August 14, 1925 in Hunington, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Harry and Ruth Salyards, she grew up in Altoona, PA, where she attended grammar school, was a graduate of Altoona High School and she attended the Bible Institute for one year.
Betty was a resident of Alton, NH for the past 22 years. Prior to moving to Alton, she lived in Rochester, NH, where she worked at Mayberry Shoe and Dix Heel in East Rochester. She retired from Cleary Cleaners in Rochester.
She was a member of the True Memorial Baptist Church and choir for many years in Rochester and in Alton a member of the Community Church of Alton and their choir. She was a devout Christian and witnessed to this whenever possible. She would bow her head no matter where she was, bowed her head and thanked the Lord for her food.
Her dream was to be a missionary, she didn't get to fulfill that dream, so she did the next best thing, she collected used clothing and sent them around the world, wherever they were needed. She also donated money to her favorite charities, of which she had many. She always thought of others before herself. She would give her last dime to someone in need and go without herself. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She was the ex-wife of the late Richard Tarlton of St. Petersburg, Florida, they had been married for 25 years, she never remarried.
Predeceased by her son Richard "Rick" Tarlton, her parents, 3 brothers, William, Richard and Ronald Salyards, she is survived by her 2 daughters: Charlotte Perreault of Rochester, Karen and husband Chet Wheeler of Barrington, 2 sisters: Ruth Cahoon of North Berwick, ME and Dottie Richardson of Maine, brother: Harry Salyards of PA, also many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends, including Jody Horne, Melba Oickie and Ann Sullivan, 4 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and great great grandmother of her great grandson Jody and his wife Tara (Piche) Ferris' baby girl Kiley Ferris of Clarksville, TN.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, January 5, 2012 at 2pm at the Community Church of Alton, 20 Church Street, Alton, NH with Rev.
