Bernard Glidden Sr. (1918-2012)

Bernard Sidney Glidden Sr., 94, died peacefully on October 28 surrounded by his family.
Born on February 21, 1918, Bernard lived his early years in New Durham then moved to Farmington where he spent the remainder of his life. In 1938 Bernard married his lifelong partner, Rosanna Cardinal, together enjoying 74 years of marriage. Bernard served his country in the US Army for one year, worked for many years as a machinist for Scott Williams then was employed at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard for 21 years before he retired. During his long life, he enjoyed traveling, camping, gardening, raising farm animals, running his tree farm, and spending time with his family.
Bernard is survived by his wife, Rosanna Glidden; his daughter, Elaine (Glidden) Cochran and her husband, Art; his son, Malcolm Glidden and his wife, Sharon; his daughter-in-law, Barbara Glidden; 6 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. He is predeceased by his parents, Sidney and Alice Glidden; and his son, Bernard Glidden Jr.
Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, October 31 from 6-8 pm at Peaslee Funeral Home, 24 Central Street, Farmington. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, November 1 at 11:00AM at the First Congregational Church of Farmington, followed by burial at the Pine Grove Cemetery. The family requests that memorial donations, in lieu of flowers, be made in his memory to the First Congregational Church, 400 Main Street, Farmington, NH 03835.
