Obituary

Barbara Ann Stevens, age 87

Barbara passed peacefully in her sleep on September 11,2023 to once again be with the love of her life, Roy Stevens, who died in 1991.

Barbara was born on May 25, 1936 in St. Johnsbury, Vermont. She was the daughter of Yvonne Hanson and lovingly referred to Tony and Jenny of Vermont as her Mama and Daddy.  Barbara was the oldest of 5 children, Pat Eaton, Peggy Goslin, Donna Laurion and Richard Hanson (who passed earlier this year).

Barbara lived her life to bring joy and comfort to all she came in contact with. The Stevens home was the safe place for many neighborhood kids over the years.  Because of her need to serve, she decided to return to school and get her associates degree in nursing and spent many years in the profession that she loved, retiring at age 79.  Though most would think that they had done their share for the community by that age, Barbara continued to serve by volunteering to be the class Grandmother at East Rochester School where she read to children and helped them with their reading.  She was honored for this by being named Volunteer of the Month in the Rochester School District. Barbara also loved to travel, attend shows and playing many hours of cards.

Barbara and Roy raised their children in Union, New Hampshire. She was a stay-at-home Mom to be available for baseball games, basketball and any other activities her children were involved with. After Roy Stevens passed in 1991, she relocated to Rochester, New Hampshire.

Barbara is survived by her children, Gary Stevens (Roberta), David Stevens (Audrey), Wayne Stevens (Susan), Donna Stevens (Mark Theriault) and Scott Stevens (Amy). She also had a special relationship with Chris Coon and his wife Fran.   Barbara had a special place in her heart for her grandchildren, George, Jeff, Joey, Jadyn, Brody, Troy, Kristen, Kara, Ryan, Jennifer, Bryce and Brett.  She also enjoyed her 10 great grandchildren.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, September 14 from 5-7 pm at Peaslee Funeral Home, Farmington, NH.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, September 15 at 11 am at St. Mary's Catholic Church on Lowell Street in Rochester, NH.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Barbara's memory to Cornerstone Hospice.  The family would like to thank Cornerstone for their Care and Support.
