Barbara Jean (LeFave) Richards, age 83, of Sanbornville, NH, passed away October 17, 2013, at Huggins Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.
Born March 31, 1930 in Belmont, MA, the daughter of Bernard and Margaret (McCabe) LeFave, she grew up in Melrose, Stoneham and Nahant, Massachusetts.
In her younger years, she was an accomplished roller skater, gracing the Nahant Roller Skating Rink with her turns and dance moves, where she met the man she would be married to for 63 years: Gerald Richards.
She also loved the beach, ocean, family gatherings and sharing time with her boys, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Barbara worked as a secretary at the Center School in Peabody, MA. Later, she worked for the Albert Detective Agency, on the switchboard, then office manager, even doing some P.I. work, all this while raising her family in Peabody, MA.
She is survived by her devoted and loving husband Gerald, sons: Earl and wife Kathy Richards of Amesbury, MA, Bruce and wife Jackie Richards of Aiken, SC, grandchildren: Joshua and fiancée Jessica of Bismark, ND, Kate and husband Ron, Jordan and Grant, all of Amesbury, MA, Kayla and Matthew of Aiken, SC, great grandchildren: Saige, Sydney and Cameron, her brother Bernard LeFave of Colorado, sister: Carol and husband Walter Youngstead of Sanbornville, NH, sister in law: Ruth Baldwin of Lynn, MA, also many nieces, nephews and friends. She was predeceased by a sister Marjorie McLernon and brother Stanley LeFave.
Gerald and his family wish to thank the wonderful staff at Huggins Hospital in Wolfeboro, NH for all their care and support during Barbara's stay. You all made a difference during her time with you.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday October 26, 2013 at 11:00 am at Peaslee Funeral Home, 2079 Wakefield Road in Sanbornville, NH with Pastor Garrett Lair, officiating. Urn interment will be private at Woodman Cemetery in East Wakefield, NH. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in her memory to: Huggins Hospital, 240 South Main Street, Wolfeboro, NH 03894.
