Alice Lise Pratt, aged 67, passed away on March 2, 2024, at home in Center Barnstead, New Hampshire. She was born on December 23, 1956, in Peterborough, New Hampshire.
Alice was a conscientious, thoughtful, artistic, and passionate individual. She dedicated her career to being an early childhood teacher, positively impacting the lives of many young children. In her free time, Alice enjoyed music and drama, hiking, kayaking, knitting, and felt-painting. She was an energetic gardener with a love of beauty and the natural world.
Alice's life was deeply connected to Waldorf education. Raised by parents who both attended Waldorf schools, and whose mother was a passionate Waldorf educator and school founder, Alice attended primary school at the Rudolf Steiner School in New York City and high school at
High Mowing School in Wilton, NH. She went on to study at Marlborough College, Keene State College, and Antioch University where she completed her Master's degree in Waldorf Early Childhood Education. She later studied Anthroposophical Speech at programs in both the
United States and United Kingdom. Alice contributed to various school communities including the Shelburne Waldorf School, Cape Ann Waldorf School, Pine Hill Waldorf School, Sea Star Waldorf Initiative, Hawthorne Valley Waldorf School, and Orchard Hill Waldorf School. She drew
on her background in early childhood education when care giving for her grandchildren who now attend the Gathering Waters Public Charter School, a public charter Waldorf initiative, in Keene, NH.
Alice will be dearly missed and is survived by her partner, Jim Alderette; son, Joel Menard; daughter-in-law, Sarah Menard; grandsons, Silas and Hunter Menard; sister, Laura Pisapia; nieces, Nadya Spencer and Maria Pisapia; and nephew, Richard Pisapia Jr. She is preceded in
death by her father, D. Swain Pratt, and mother, E. Ann Courtney Pratt.
A service to honor Alice's life will be held at her home in Center Barnstead, N.H. for friends and
family on Tuesday, March 5th at 2:30pm. May she rest in peace.
